Medical Power of Attorney

Having a medical power of attorney is an important aspect of managing your healthcare. A medical power of attorney is a document in which you assign somebody to speak on your behalf should you be unable to do so (e.g. coma). Nobody has rights to make decisions for you if you are 18 or older, not even your spouse. This is why a medical power of attorney is so important. This provides peace of mind for yourself and your loved ones.

Exempla Healthcare has created a medical power of attorney, called Five Wishes, that I believe is a very thorough document. For more information on Five Wishes, please click on the following link: www.agingwithdignity.org.
